The Department
The Aston Villa Foundation is the official Charity of Aston Villa Football Club and prides itself in being innovative in its approach to the club being used as a ‘Force for Good’.
Our education division is striving to be at the forefront of supporting schools and individuals across the city through innovative curriculums and bespoke delivery. The division oversees our Primary School Sport and Education, Alternative Education, Villa Vision and our Further & Higher Education programmes. Each programme aims to engage and inspire participants using the power of the club, football and the Premier League as a hook for learning.
The Role
The Alternative Education Officer will lead and deliver on all aspects of our Alternative Education programme in both Primary and Secondary educational settings. Covering several themes within our AE curriculum of Life Skills, Employment and Health & Wellbeing as well as supporting and guiding individuals through qualifications and personal development opportunities. The Officer will also communicate and collaborate with each educational setting to create bespoke timetables to meet the needs of the students in line with the vision of the setting and Aston Villa Foundation.
Within this role, you will deliver high quality lessons, mentoring sessions and extra-curricular activities across the academic year to engage learners in a tailored approach. This approach is unique and blended in nature, with both practical and classroom elements delivered as part of the programme.
The delivery takes place at various club locations directly in our Partner Schools as well as providing unique learning opportunities and experiences at Villa Park and our Inner-City Academy.

The Person
We are seeking a driven and passionate individual with the ability to create, develop and implement high quality, varied and creative educational activities and learning experiences. You will have demonstrable experience of working in an educational setting and specifically within Alternative Education provision as desirable.
You will also have experience and a skillset of effectively managing behaviour and engaging learners who have been identified to attend our programme as we strive to keep students in education and aspiring to reach their potential.
The role will also utilise your ability to successfully add value to a school’s curriculum and demonstrate clear and positive impact within the educational setting. The role requires proactive problem solving and critical thinking skills to enhance the programmes successes.
