Boston Legacy FC (the “Club”) is Boston’s new professional women’s soccer team, set to begin play in the National Women’s Soccer League in 2026. The Role
We are seeking a Head of Facilities to join our team at Boston Legacy Football Club. Boston Legacy FC, in partnership with the City of Boston, is renovating White Stadium in the heart of Boston as the future home of our team and Boston Public Schools. White Stadium will include the Grove, a community space for public events, community gatherings, and a year-round restaurant. We are also building a dedicated state-of-the-art performance center for the team in Brockton, MA, slated to open in early 2026.
The Head of Facilities will lead all aspects related to our facilities, from advising during construction through building a facilities-focused team and ultimately managing steady state operations. This individual’s responsibilities will include collaborating on design and development, project management, strategic planning, and creating a top-notch team and fan experience.
An ideal candidate will have a blend of experience supporting construction and managing facilities at arenas, stadiums, and entertainment venues. We have a strong preference for an individual who has operationalized new construction and led operations at a professional sports stadium, ideally soccer specific.
Key Responsibilities
- Oversee Long-Term Operations: Lead the planning and execution of all initiatives to ensure facilities are fully operational and efficient on day one. Once facilities are online, lead daily management, including stadium turn over, ground maintenance, ensuring a safe and functional environment, fan and guest experience, IT, and more
- Facilities Construction Leader: Internal senior leader overseeing Boston Legacy facilities, ensuring the ownership group’s vision and strategic priorities become a reality through the construction process
- Cross-Facility Leader: Ultimate leader of all club facilities, responsibilities include implementing consistent operational standards and efficient resource management to ensure optimal functionality, safety, and presentation across the entire portfolio
- White Stadium Expert: Become an expert on all things White Stadium and the Grove, leveraging learnings during the construction phases to inform future decision making and day-to-day management
- Project Management: Lead internal and external stakeholder management, including with architects, developers, contractors, project managers, and vendors during stadium and Performance Center construction
- Facility Launch Planning: Run all necessary pre-opening processes, ranging from vendor and equipment procurement, defining fan and guest experience, traffic planning, compliance and safety planning, technology integration, and more
- Strategic Planning: Create the team’s facilities long term strategic plan, with a vision from construction through to day-to-day operations and steady state operations
- Talent management and development: Hire, develop, and manage a top-tier facilities team for White Stadium and the Performance Center that evolves as the facilities needs of the organization change over time
- Business Planning: Lead the development, projection, and management of the facilities budget, ensuring accurate forecasting, cost control, and alignment with organizational goals while overseeing execution of capital and operational expenditures
- Stakeholder Collaboration: Primary point of contact for all facility-related topics, collaborating closely with the BLFC staff (coaching staff, business staff, security, event operations, and other departments) and community group (Boston Public Schools, City of Boston, affiliate groups, etc.) as needed to ensure facility needs align with team and city objectives
What We’re Looking For
- Bachelor’s Degree in Facility Management, Business Administration, Operations Management, or equivalent experience.
- Prior experience supporting the construction of a professional sports stadium or arena.
- Minimum of 7-10 years of experience in venue operations, with a strong background in overseeing multiple operational areas such as conversions, housekeeping, sustainability, fleet, parking, and transportation.
- A proven self-starter who takes initiative without waiting for direction, who is able to find creative solutions and make things happen with limited resources.
- Proven leadership experience, including supervising and managing cross-functional teams.
- Strong project management skills, with experience in strategic planning, executing long-term projects, and managing facility upgrades or capital improvement initiatives.
- Experience in managing budgets and financial resources, with the ability to develop and monitor operational budgets while ensuring cost-effective operations.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to manage complex logistics, including coordinating transportation, parking, and event setup to ensure seamless guest experiences.
- Strong understanding of sustainability best practices and environmental regulations, with the ability to implement and manage green initiatives within venue operations.
- Ability to work flexible hours, including evening, weekends, and holidays, as required by game schedules or events.
