Boston Legacy FC (the “Club”) is Boston’s new professional women’s soccer team, set to begin play in the National Women’s Soccer League in 2026. We are dedicated to building a championship-caliber organization on and off the pitch. The Role

Boston Legacy FC is seeking an experienced and dynamic Assistant Coach to support the Head Coach in all aspects of team performance, daily training, match preparation, and player development. The ideal candidate is a knowledgeable and adaptable coach with strong tactical awareness, the ability to lead sessions, and a passion for fostering a high-performance environment.

This role is integral to the success of the team, requiring a coach who thrives in a collaborative setting, communicates clearly with staff and players, and consistently brings energy and professionalism to the training pitch and locker room.

Key Responsibilities

Training & Match Preparation

  • Assist in planning and delivering daily training sessions, ensuring alignment with team tactical principles and match objectives.
  • Lead portions of team training and small group work as assigned by the Head Coach.
  • Support the preparation of game plans through opponent analysis and scouting.
  • Provide live in-game tactical feedback and assist with real-time adjustments.
  • Participate in post-match review processes, including video analysis and team debriefs.

Player Development & Support

  • Collaborate with the technical staff to support the development of individual players, including through film sessions, feedback, and on-field coaching.
  • Monitor and guide players’ growth in alignment with club standards and values.
  • Foster strong relationships with players built on trust, accountability, and respect.

Technical & Tactical Contribution

  • Contribute to the ongoing development and evolution of the team’s playing identity.
  • Offer input and creative ideas in team meetings, opponent scouting, and long-term planning.
  • Support integration of data and performance analysis into coaching processes.
  • Assist in the implementation of set pieces if assigned by the Head Coach.

Team Culture & Communication

  • Actively promote a positive, inclusive, and professional team culture.
  • Model leadership and uphold high standards in all team environments.
  • Serve as a liaison between players and technical staff as needed.

What We’re Looking For

Required Qualifications

  • U.S. Soccer B License (or equivalent); A License preferred.
  • Minimum 3+ years coaching experience at the professional, collegiate, or elite youth level.
  • Strong understanding of tactical principles, training methodology, and modern trends in the game.
  • Proven ability to work collaboratively within a technical staff.
  • Excellent interpersonal, organizational, and communication skills.
  • Ability to travel and work non-traditional hours including weekends and holidays.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Playing experience at the professional or collegiate level.
  • Experience coaching in women’s football or with female athletes.
  • Familiarity with the NWSL level of play and opponent tendencies.
  • Experience with video analysis tools (e.g., Sportscode, Wyscout, Studio).
  • Bilingual (English/Spanish or other) is a plus.
