Nature of Work:
The Grounds Crew member assists in maintaining the playing surfaces and surrounding grounds at the Common Spirit Performance Center, Centennial Stadium, and adjacent shared-use fields. This position plays an important role in ensuring safe, high-quality, and visually outstanding playing surfaces for professional athletes, training sessions, matches, and community events.

The Grounds Crew member performs hands-on turfgrass maintenance tasks under the direction of the Director, Assistant Director and /or Manager of Grounds and supports team training, match-day and event operations. This role requires a strong work ethic, attention to detail, the ability to work in a team environment, and a commitment to safety and professionalism.
Examples of work performed:
  • Assist with daily maintenance of natural grass and artificial turf surfaces including mowing, irrigation operation, aeration, topdressing, fertilization applications, sod repair, overseeding, and field cleanup. Assist with professional field painting, layout, and match preparation according to league and event standards.
  • Support preparation and recovery for team training sessions, matches, and special events. Assist with pre-event setup, post-event field repairs, and maintaining high visual presentation standards.
  • Operate and maintain groundskeeping equipment including mowers, blowers, utility vehicles, line painters, and hand tools. Assist with cleaning, basic maintenance, and safe storage of equipment and materials.
  • Assist with general facility upkeep including debris removal, landscaping tasks, and maintaining safe and clean work areas. Support snow removal operations for fields, walkways, and surrounding areas when necessary.
  • Work closely with the Manager of Grounds and other grounds staff to complete daily tasks efficiently. Maintain a positive, team-oriented work environment while supporting the club’s high-performance culture.

Working Conditions & Physical Demands:
  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs, stand, walk, bend, kneel, and squat for extended periods
  • Ability to work in outdoor conditions including heat, cold, snow, and rain
  • Flexible schedule including early mornings, evenings, weekends, and holidays

Qualifications:
  • Minimum
    • High school diploma or equivalent
    • Interest in turfgrass management, landscaping, or sports field maintenance
    • Ability to safely operate basic equipment and tools
    • Ability to acquire or produce and maintain a valid driver’s license and meet company vehicle driving standards.
    • Ability to work flexible hours including weekends and match days, (weekly schedules may vary depending on team schedule)
    • Applicants must meet minimum qualifications at the time of hire.
  • Preferred
    • Experience working in sports turf, landscaping, or grounds maintenance
    • Experience with natural grass athletic field maintenance
    • Coursework or education in turfgrass management, horticulture, or related field

Compensation:
  • $19.29-$22.00 per hour
