Overview of Brooklyn Football Club Brooklyn FC is defining the future of soccer in America. In 2024, Brooklyn played in its inaugural season of the USL Super League team and in 2026 will launch a USL Championship team. We represent the 77 neighborhoods in the Brooklyn borough and are dedicated to uplifting our community through our global sport. Our club is devoted to building relationships while creating a disruptive brand that allows us reach beyond Brooklyn. A club that our supporters are proud to endorse and represent.

This position is specifically for the 2026 USL Championship season.

Position Title: Goalkeeper Coach
Position Type: Full-Time
Pay Rate - $60,000 - $65,000

Key Responsibilities

1. Technical & Tactical Development
  • Design, implement, and lead all goalkeeper-specific training sessions based on the club’s tactical model and game principles.
  • Develop technical competencies including positioning, handling, footwork, aerial control, and 1v1 scenarios.
  • Integrate goalkeepers effectively into team tactical phases such as build-up play, pressing structure, and defensive organization.
  • Provide constant feedback to ensure alignment between goalkeeper behaviors and team tactical objectives.
  • Conduct technical and tactical analyses to support continual improvement in decision-making, positioning, and distribution.

2. Match Preparation & Performance
  • Prepare goalkeepers for all home, away, and exhibition matches through targeted pre-match training and mental readiness routines.
  • Lead goalkeeper warm-ups and provide in-match technical and tactical support.
  • Deliver immediate post-match reviews and guide goalkeepers in reflective analysis to identify strengths and areas for improvement.
  • Be present for all matches and ensure professional conduct throughout all team operations.

3. Performance Monitoring & Analysis
  • Utilize video and performance data to assess individual and collective goalkeeper performance.
  • Maintain a database of key performance indicators including saves, distribution accuracy, aerial duels, and decision-making efficiency.
  • Work collaboratively with the Performance Analyst and Strength Coach to align data insights with physical and tactical development goals.
  • Create individual development reports and present progress updates to the Head Coach and Sporting Director.

4. Integration with Team & Staff
  • Collaborate with the Head Coach and technical staff to align goalkeeper training within the broader tactical framework of the team.
  • Participate in the planning and delivery of full-team training sessions, ensuring goalkeepers are tactically synchronized with outfield players.
  • Maintain consistent communication with performance, medical, and technical departments to coordinate player workload, recovery, and readiness.
  • Support in the recruitment, mentorship, and development of additional goalkeeper staff as needed.

5. Player Development & Mentorship
  • Develop individualized training and development plans for each goalkeeper based on age, experience, and positional profile.
  • Provide consistent guidance on leadership, resilience, and professionalism both on and off the field.
  • Support player evaluations and contribute to long-term performance and career planning discussions.
  • Encourage a positive, competitive, and high-performance environment that challenges and supports each goalkeeper’s growth.

6. Matchday & Travel Responsibilities
  • Attend all matches, including home, away, and exhibition fixtures.
  • Oversee pre-match preparation, halftime activation, and post-match recovery for goalkeepers.
  • Ensure consistent performance standards and routines during travel and competition periods.
  • Be available to work weekends, holidays, and extended hours as required by team schedules, travel demands, and coaching staff needs.

7. Club Representation & Professional Standards
  • Uphold Brooklyn FC’s values of integrity, respect, and professionalism at all times.
  • Represent the club positively in media appearances, community events, and youth development initiatives.
  • Support the organization’s broader programs through participation in coaching clinics and public engagements.
  • Maintain confidentiality regarding all tactical, player, and operational matters.
  • Foster a performance-driven culture built on accountability, collaboration, and excellence.
  • Carry out all additional duties as assigned by the Head Coach, Sporting Director, or club management.

Qualifications

  • UEFA, USSF, or equivalent Goalkeeping Coaching License required, with proven experience coaching goalkeepers in a professional, semi-professional, or elite academy environment.
  • Strong technical and tactical expertise in modern goalkeeping, including integration into team build-up, pressing structures, defensive organization, and game-model–driven play.
  • Demonstrated ability to design and deliver high-quality goalkeeper-specific training sessions, individual development plans, and match preparation routines.
  • Experience using video analysis, performance data, and key performance indicators to evaluate goalkeeper performance and communicate insights to technical leadership.
  • Excellent leadership, communication, and mentorship skills, with the professionalism, adaptability, and availability required to meet the demands of matchdays, travel, and extended team schedules.
