The Equipment Manager leads in the annual procurement and related activities of athletics apparel, equipment, and footwear for Spokane Zephyr FC and technical department staff. The Equipment Manager drives and maintains inventories and appropriate storage of all related equipment and adheres to operational policies and procedures in order to maintain full compliance with USL regulations, as well as compliance with terms of contracts with manufacturers. Additionally, this position is responsible for daily equipment/gear set-up and breakdown for all trainings and games as well as the locker room. This position plays a critical role in ensuring the success of the club and the safety of all players and must be able to identify areas of concern, propose changes for increased efficiencies and safety, and must always stay knowledgeable of industry trends and changes. This position must be fully committed to the mission and values and must have the ability to build an infrastructure which embraces commitment to community, safety, inclusion, and optimal performance.

Key or Essential Functions:
To perform this position successfully, an individual must be able to perform each of the duties listed below. The essential functions of the position include, but are not limited to the following:
- Manages the procurement and related activities of Capelli apparel, equipment, and footwear while maintaining inventory.
- Maintains all equipment and gear related to the technical department to include, but not limited to, training, match, travel, and performance equipment, and other items.
- Manages all players receipt of team equipment, gear, and apparel and ensures that players have the required gear to participate in the team training and game environment.
- Works individually with each player to ensure proper fulfillment of their equipment needs.
- Identifies when certain equipment and gear may be required for individual players to better assist them in maintaining successful performance and maintaining high level safety standards.
- Ensure all team equipment is ready to be used each day before training and that it is properly maintained and stored following use.
- Responsible for ensuring all team equipment and gear is properly packed and available for team travel.
- Responsible for setting the game day locker room and ensuring that the locker provided during travel is properly set for player and team use.
- Facilitates training location setup and breakdown to ensure appropriate training environment as set by technical staff.
- Provides weekly reports to the VP of Operations, and when necessary to the Spokane Zephyr FC Head Coach, on the status of all team equipment and gear.
- Maintains and oversees the equipment and gear budget, proactively identifies budgetary issues, and reports to the VP of Operations on the budget.
- Proactively identifies when there is the need to purchase new equipment or gear prior to their being a shortage or unavailable of that necessary item.
- Identifies when there is an unsafe piece of equipment or gear that does not meet standards and immediately removes it from circulation.
- Conducts heat press numbers, logo’s, letters, while focusing on proper heat placement and appearance for all apparel equipment.
- Serves as the team’s main point of contact while team is on the road. These duties included, but are not limited to:
- Manages away game itineraries.
- Managers team flight manifest while team is traveling.
- Manages team hotel check in process, meeting rooms, team meals.
- Manages team bus transportation while on the road.
- In all work performed in this role, the Equipment Manager must be able to pivot and maintain composure in stressful situations.
- This position involves heavy domestic travel, potential international travel, and regular work on the weekends, evenings, and some holidays. To be successful in this role, the Equipment Manager must be able to fully commit to the travel and local schedule.
Minimum Qualifications Include:
- Bachelor’s or Associate’s degree in sports management, sports administration, or other similar areas of academic accomplishment.
- Minimum of 2 years in a team operations or equipment management role or with an equivalent background in soccer to quickly learn and adapt to the needs of the position.
- A combination or accumulation of applicable work-related experience and/or education may be recognized as sufficiently meeting the requirements based upon educational programs and specific experience.
- Ability to pass comprehensive background check including a motor vehicle report.
- Ability to pass SafeSport Training.
- Possess and maintain a current and valid driver’s license and maintain legally required insurance.
- This role requires the use of a personal vehicle to transport team gear and materials between locations.
- Bilingual in English and Spanish is a plus.
Previous experience should include:
o Experience working with athletes, coaches, and technical staff
o Knowledge and experience in equipment management

Physical Requirements:
Physical Requirements:
- Work is a combination of an office setting and work performed in locker rooms, at stadiums, and other various locations when traveling. Some work is performed in the field which includes traveling out of town, conducting work in various soccer stadiums and within the USL Spokane soccer stadium.
- This position requires the ability to manage team equipment and gear which may include receiving deliveries, opening boxes, lifting and stacking boxes, lifting and transporting equipment and gear, assisting players into equipment and gear, and other various physical demands to properly conduct this role.
- Ability to work with moderate exposure to unusual elements, such as extreme temperatures, dirt, dust, fumes, smoke, unpleasant odors, and/or loud noise while performing work in the field and at the stadium.
- Essential position functions require sufficient physical ability and mobility to:
o Stand or sit for prolonged periods of time
o Walk or stand for prolonged periods of time
o Regularly talk, hear, stoop, bend, kneel, crouch, reach, and twist
o Occasionally climb
o Lift, carry, push, and /or pull moderate to heavy amounts of weight up to 50-60 pounds

Working Conditions:
While performing the essential job functions, the employee may experience the following conditions:
- Position will require flexible hours which will include extended days, nights, weekends, holidays, and overnights due to travel.
- Deadlines and goals may generate stress.
- Noise Conditions: exposed to a variety of noise conditions including noise consistent with a standard office environment on a regular basis and exposed to loud noise while in stadium, on the road, and working directly with coaches and players.
- Heat/Cold: May be subject to heat, cold, wet and/or humid weather conditions, and occasionally extreme heat and/or cold.
- Atmospheric Exposure: Exposed to typical office environment conditions as well as some work conducted while outside and in the soccer stadium.
- Injury Exposure: May be exposed to mechanical equipment used to support players in their training.
Compensation and Benefits:
- Non-Exempt, hourly position with a range of $23 - $28 / hour
- 2 weeks vacation (prorated first year of employment)
- Paid Sick Leave 1 hour for every 40 hours worked
- Medical, dental, and vision insurance provided with a 75% employer contribution for employee premiums.
- 50% employer contribution for dependent/spouse medical, dental, and vision.
- Employer paid employee life insurance and AD&D.
