Fort Lauderdale United FC plays its home matches at Nova Southeastern University in Davie, Florida, formerly home to the Miami Dolphins training facility.
POSITION SUMMARY:
Fort Lauderdale United FC seeks a dynamic, self-motivated, organized, energetic, and creative Physical Performance Coach with experience working in collegiate or professional soccer. This position will lead, manage, and deliver the high-performance and sports science provision for Fort Lauderdale United FC. The Physical Performance Coach will work closely and build collaborative relationships and processes between the performance and coaching departments to ensure holistic athlete development and performance optimization.
Key Responsibilities:
· Oversee, manage, and direct all areas of Fort Lauderdale United FC performance delivery (performance, S&C, and sports science).
· Ensure collaboration and integration of all areas of performance within the club both interdisciplinary and multidisciplinary.
· Develop and implement Fort Lauderdale United FC performance standards across the team and organization.
· Integrate and deliver the physical periodization of training in collaboration with the Head Coach and technical staff.
· Oversee the management of all physical development strategies within Fort Lauderdale United FC including pre-training preparation sessions, pitch-based warm-ups, individual training, strength and conditioning, and fitness development.
· Implement physical profiling, performance testing, and monitoring and ensure appropriate practical application.
· In collaboration with the medical department develop group and individualized injury prevention, recovery, and activation strategies for all players.
· Develop and influence all travel and away game performance optimization strategies.
· In collaboration with data science and analytics staff, develop automated data visualization processes for real-time performance feedback from training and games. These dashboards should include wellness, GPS, and testing data sets.
· Lead on communication to all international soccer federations regarding club players' physical health, wellness, and availability prior to release from the club environment.
· Design and deliver performance-focused education workshops to all players and other necessary key stakeholders.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: (Required to perform the job)
-Develop and implement training programs to increase players’ performance and reduce injuries
-Monitor fitness and fatigue of the team
-Organize strength and fitness training sessions with players returning from injury.
-Plan and deliver effective and individualized player pre-activation sessions in collaboration with the Medical team.
-Test and evaluate players’ physical performance and create reports for coaches and players.
-Ability to work within an Athlete Development Model to understand the developmental progressions of which training should be appropriate for the safety and development of younger athletes.
Required Skills:
· Proficient in Athlete Management Systems.
· Experience with data collection, analysis, and reporting, and ability to autonomously integrate multiple technologies (e.g., GPS, testing, profiling, monitoring technologies) and data management practices to support and document services.
· Experience planning and delivering soccer-specific on-field and in-gym strength and conditioning programming.
· Strong understanding of sports science methodologies, current trends, and technologies in sports science.
· Experience creating and executing injury-rehabilitation programs in collaboration with medical staff.
· Demonstrated capacity to work well in team environments with representatives from a wide range of disciplinary backgrounds.
· Able to communicate clearly, confidently, and effectively with players and staff at all levels, with absolute discretion.
· Must be well-organized, enthusiastic, focused, aggressive, goal-oriented, and committed to the culture developed by Fort Lauderdale United FC and the USL Super League.
Desired Skills:
· Evidence of leadership experience with responsibility for a sports science function within a soccer environment.
· Experience working with female athletes.
· Experience with managing different travel schedules (time zones) and climate conditions (heat, cold, altitude).
Qualifications and Experience:
· Bachelor’s degree in Sports Science, Exercise Science, Exercise Physiology, or a related field.
· Master’s degree or higher in Exercise Physiology, Sports Science, or related field (preferred).
· Professional certification from a recognized body (CSCS, NSCA, ASCA).
· 3+ years working within the performance sector delivering directly to athletes in elite sport.
· Previous experience with professional or collegiate soccer players in multiple settings (on-field, gym, team setting, and individual).
Additional Requirements:
· Must be able to pass all background and safeguarding checks.
· Must be SafeSport certified.
· Ability to complete tasks accurately, efficiently, and in a timely manner, while remaining flexible to changing and new priorities and needs.
· Must travel to all games – home and away – and other required events.
· Ability to work flexible hours, including nights, weekends, and holidays, as required.
· Maintain an organized, safe, and operable gym environment.
