Position Overview
The Carolina Ascent FC Press Box / Production Assistant serves as the primary match-day support person for the Director of Stadium Events & Operations, assisting with pregame setup, live match production, in-stadium technology, game presentation, and postgame breakdown. Working inside the production and operations room, this individual will help execute the official Run of Show, operate designated fan-engagement software, manage the game clock, track the score, and support the PA Announcer throughout the match. This seasonal, part-time position requires sustained concentration, strong soccer knowledge, attention to detail, and the ability to respond quickly in a fast-paced live event environment, making it ideal for individuals interested in live sports production, game presentation, event management, and stadium operations.
Essential Responsibilities
Pregame
- Arrive prior to stadium gates opening to assist with press box and game-day setup.
- Serve as the Director of Stadium Events & Operations’ primary assistant during pregame preparations.
- Help organize the official Run of Show, timing sheets, PA scripts, rosters, pronunciation guides, production documents, and other game-day materials.
- Assist with pregame stadium walkthroughs and Run of Show reviews to confirm that game presentation elements, equipment, activations, and designated areas are properly prepared.
- Assist with the distribution and organization of radios, credentials, production materials, and operational equipment.
- Prepare and test the Vixi Suite platform and confirm that all scheduled Selfie Cam, trivia, polling, and any other digital activations are ready.
- Confirm that the game clock, scoreboard, and designated production systems are operational.
- Review starting lineups, rosters, player pronunciations, scheduled recognitions, and other relevant match information with the PA Announcer.
- Assist the Director of Stadium Events & Operations with additional setup responsibilities as assigned.
During the Match
First Half
- Serve as the Director of Stadium Events & Operations’ right hand inside the production and operations room.
- Follow the official Run of Show and help ensure all scheduled game presentation elements are executed accurately and on time.
- Operate Vixi Suite software for interactive promotions, including Selfie Cam, fan trivia, and live polling.
- Operate and manage the game clock accurately throughout the match.
- Track and update the score as goals are recorded.
- Monitor the match for goals, substitutions, cards, stoppage time, and other important events.
- Assist the PA Announcer by confirming player names, numbers, substitutions, scoring information, disciplinary actions, and other match details.
- Help ensure the PA Announcer has the correct scripts and upcoming reads readily available.
- Communicate timing updates, operational information, and production cues through the game-day radio.
- Assist with the execution of PA reads, video board features, sponsor activations, ceremonies, recognitions, music cues, and fan-engagement elements.
- Remain attentive and locked in throughout the match, maintaining awareness of the game action, clock, score, Run of Show, and upcoming responsibilities.
- Identify and communicate operational, scoring, or technical issues as they occur.
Halftime
- Assist with the timing and execution of halftime entertainment, contests, sponsor promotions, and on-field activities.
- Continue operating Vixi Suite activations when included in the halftime schedule.
- Coordinate with the Director of Stadium Events & Operations and field-level staff to ensure halftime elements begin and conclude on time.
- Monitor the halftime clock and communicate timing updates to the appropriate game-day personnel.
- Help the PA Announcer prepare for scheduled halftime and second-half announcements.
- Prepare all necessary systems, documents, and activations for the beginning of the second half.
Second Half
- Continue managing the game clock and tracking the score accurately.
- Continue monitoring goals, substitutions, cards, stoppage time, and other significant match events.
- Continue assisting the PA Announcer with accurate player, scoring, substitution, and disciplinary information.
- Operate scheduled Vixi Suite Selfie Cam, trivia, and polling activations.
- Assist with the execution of the second-half Run of Show, including sponsor obligations, PA reads, video board features, recognitions, and fan-engagement elements.
- Maintain consistent communication with the Director of Stadium Events & Operations and other game-day departments.
- Remain fully attentive through the final whistle and be prepared to adjust to changes in match timing or production needs.
- Provide additional production and operational assistance as directed.
Postgame
- Assist with postgame announcements, presentations, recognitions, and other scheduled Run of Show elements.
- Confirm the final score and relevant match information with the Director of Stadium Events & Operations and PA Announcer.
- Save, close, and properly shut down designated production software and equipment.
- Organize and collect Run of Show documents, scripts, radios, credentials, and other game-day materials.
- Assist the Director of Stadium Events & Operations with all required postgame breakdown.
- Help return equipment, materials, and workspaces to their proper locations.
- Assist with production room cleanup and additional postgame responsibilities until dismissed by Game Day Leadership.
Qualifications
- Strong understanding of soccer rules, terminology, match flow, positions, substitutions, disciplinary actions, and scoring.
- Ability to identify and follow key match events, including goals, cards, substitutions, stoppage time, and the final result.
- Strong organizational skills and exceptional attention to detail.
- Ability to maintain focus and accuracy for the duration of a live professional soccer match.
- Comfortable operating computers, web-based software, game clocks, scorekeeping systems, and production technology.
- Ability to follow detailed Run of Show documents and execute responsibilities at precise times.
- Excellent verbal communication skills.
- Comfortable communicating clearly and professionally over a two-way radio.
- Ability to multitask while monitoring game action, timing, production cues, scripts, and multiple software platforms.
- Ability to remain calm under pressure and adapt quickly to changes.
- Dependable, punctual, professional, and prepared for every assigned match.
- Ability to remain seated or standing for extended periods.
- Ability to safely lift and carry up to 40 pounds.
- Previous experience in soccer, live events, game presentation, sports production, scorekeeping, broadcasting, PA support, or event operations is preferred.
Compensation
- $16.00 per hour, paid on the 15th and last day of the month.
- Press Box / Production Assistants can expect to work approximately 4–5 hours per home match, depending on game-day assignments and operational needs.
- Opportunities to work additional club events and special events may become available throughout the season.
Schedule and Availability
This seasonal, part-time position works all Carolina Ascent FC home matches and select club events. Team members are expected to:
- Arrive prior to stadium gates opening.
- Work the full matchday shift.
- Remain through postgame responsibilities until dismissed by Game Day Leadership.
Additional matches, playoff games, and club events may be available throughout the season.
