Who are we hiring?
The Strength & Conditioning Coach is a practitioner with education pathways in Strength & Condition, Exercise Physiology, Kinesiology, with Sprinting and Sports Movement biomechanics coaching proficiency, preferably with postgraduate and self-led continuous education in methods and systems that affect players’ athletic development, durability, and productivity on the field.
The position will require seamless collaboration with the Head of Performance, as well as medical staff leading rehabilitation processes and will serve to optimize individual athlete strategies to maximize athletic development within the first and second team environments.
What will you do?
- Test and measure athletes’ capacity to move through various ranges of motion, ability to produce force locally, quality of movement pattern, and expression of power, using objective and qualitative methods.
- Design performance improvement training plans based on individual athlete profile developed from testing data, positional demands, and technical improvement plan.
- Training plans include mobility, power, strength, and energy systems development in the gym, as well as movement skill sessions on the field.
- Sessions may be implemented as an alternative to team training, interspersed with team training, or complementary to it.
- Apply deliberate movement skill coaching and education strategies within small to large groups and/or individual sessions.
- Collaborate with Physical Therapists to understand and adapt to athletes’ limitations due to pain or injury and appropriately progress their activity exposure.
- Set up equipment prior to each session. Take down and organize equipment following each session.
- If applicable, ensure athletes wear all sports science wearables (when appropriate) for each session.
- If applicable, collect and organize training and subjective survey data such as; GPS/HR monitoring, S&C test and measurements, rate of perceived exertion, and other metrics relevant to maximizing high performance output and recovery.
- Collaborate with Head of Performance to assist in the delivery of interventions to the team during team training sessions, including pre-training activation, warm-ups, speed development sessions, and targeted energy system development work.
- Collaborate with technical coaching staff to assess players’ subjective needs for improvement.
What do you need to succeed?
Required
- BA/BS in Exercise Science, Exercise Physiology, Kinesiology, Sports Science, or related field
- NSCA - Certified Strength & Conditioning Specialist
- Technical proficiency in soccer required.
- Proficiency with sports science technology like GPS/IMU wearables, Heart Rate monitoring, Force Plates, Dynamometers, Velocity Based Training tech is preferred.
Special requirements of the Job:
- Must be able to work a flexible schedule, inclusive of weekends, nights (event evenings & overnight operation shifts) and holidays.
- Ability to monitor company communications and respond to time-sensitive matters with senior executives.
- Ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds as needed for event setup, equipment management, or assisting with operational needs.
- Requires occasional bending, squatting, and reaching overhead to handle various tasks related to facility management, equipment, and event preparation.
- Must be capable of working in physically demanding environments, including navigating stairs, ramps, and elevated platforms during venue conversions.
- Ability to work outdoors continuously for extended periods of time in all weather conditions.
- Ability to travel for work.
