Who are we hiring?
The Assistant Equipment Manager serves a crucial, hands-on role within the Kansas City Current soccer operations staff. This person reports to the Head of Equipment, working alongside the Equipment Manager to establish and maintain the highest standards of professionalism and efficiency in the day-to-day equipment operations for the First Team. This role is fundamental in maximizing the athletes’, coaches’, and technical staff’s ability to perform at the highest levels by preparing the team for training, ensuring sessions run smoothly on the pitch, and anticipating team needs.

Roles and Responsibilities:

  • Maintain Equipment: Clean, sort, store, fix and retrieve training equipment for training sessions and games.
  • Travel Logistics: Assist in effectively executing travel procedures to ensure efficient travel for players, coaches and support staff during transportation to all offsite matches and training sessions.
  • Travel Preparation: Prepare, organize, pack and transport all necessary team gear and equipment for offsite training sessions and games.
  • Gear: Launder, sort, and distribute training and match gear for players and staff.
  • Special Equipment: Become familiar and confident with boot and goalkeeper glove models, preferences, and maintenance techniques.
  • Training Logistics: Working closely with the head of equipment, the assistant equipment manager serves a crucial role in ensuring that training sessions run with maximum efficiency and coordination to accomplish the Head Coach’s goals for each session.
  • Problem Solving: Anticipate needs and proactively solve problems.
  • Match Day: Assist in match day gear/ equipment transportation; locker room and field set up; locker room and bench breakdown; and post-match training sessions.
  • Equipment Room: Maintain the organization, cleanliness and operation of the equipment room.
  • Inventory: Keep consistent inventory and help create size runs for annual kit purchasing proposals.
  • KC Current II: Provide comprehensive support to all KC Current II logistics and initiatives (training, travel, and matches) when needed, ensuring operational coverage across the pathway
  • Teal Rising Alliance and Academy: Support Teal Rising Alliance and Academy initiatives including but not limited to training sessions, matches, tournaments and Talent ID.
  • All other duties as assigned.
Skills and Qualifications:
Critical Thinking and Problem Solving: Ability to think critically and solve problems in high pace and high stress environments.
  • Communication: Must be able to articulate thoughts and ideas clearly and concisely in the appropriate manner.
  • Work Hours: Willing and able to work outside of regular business hours and travel out of state for consecutive days.
  • Physical Requirements: Able to lift more than 50 pounds above your head and willing to run in spurts and over distance in training.
  • Time Management: Capable of managing multiple tasks simultaneously and meeting tight deadlines on fast paced timelines.
Time Commitment Expectations
  • Willing and able to work outside of regular business hours and travel out of state/ country for consecutive days.
Experience:
  • 》 Preferred:
    • Bachelor’s Degree.
    • Experience working in professional sport.
    • Experience working in elite collegiate sport.
    • Experience working in equipment/ team management.
  • Required:
    • Experience either performing or working in team sports environment.
    • High School diploma.
    • High interpersonal skills- ability to build rapport and work effectively with diverse personalities in high pressure situations.
    • Relocate to Kansas City.
    • Familiarity with soccer.
Special requirements of the Job:
  • ·Must be able to work a flexible schedule, inclusive of weekends, nights (event evenings & overnight operation shifts) and holidays.
  • Ability to work in various degrees of outdoor weather conditions, including but not limited to, extreme heat and cold or rain.
  • Ability to monitor company communications and respond to time sensitive matters with senior executives.
  • Travel may be required – 60-70 %.
  • Ability to lift 50 pounds of weight frequently throughout assigned workday.
  • Ability to work in various positions, including but not limited to, stooping, standing, bending over, sitting, kneeling, and squatting for extended periods of time.
