STAFF ACCOUNTANT About LOVB (League One Volleyball): League One Volleyball (LOVB, pronounced “love”) is reimagining the sport of volleyball. Launched in 2019, our company is a mission-led sports performance, development and professional league that seeks to empower new generations of women athletes. It is a groundbreaking time for volleyball in the US with our historic triple Olympic Gold medals in Women's Indoor, Beach and Sitting Volleyball. Volleyball is already the #1 most played girls' youth team sport. There are 38M current and former players today. Of major sports, it's the only one that is women-first (~90% of players are women). But the volleyball market has been almost entirely missed by traditional sports investors, brands, and media. LOVB is capturing this opportunity. Today, we have created the largest youth club business in the country and are creating the next major American sports league. This community-up approach will drive participation and fandom, while enabling greater empowerment for girls and young women living this amazing sport. In this role, you will join a mission-driven, roll-up-your-sleeves team of innovators and builders who have come together to change the paradigm of professional volleyball and women’s sport Position OverviewThe Staff Accountant will serve as a junior staff member of the accounting team and will perform daily accounting tasks and maintain financial records to ensure compliance with US GAAP. In addition, the accountant will assist with the month-end close to ensure timely and accurate release of financial statements. Reporting to the Accounting Manager, the accountant will work internally with the accounting, FP&A and operation teams and externally with auditors, vendors and other consultants. Essential Duties and Responsibilities: Oversight of Daily Operations: ● Weekly review of AP invoices and credit card transactions to ensure proper GL coding. ● Bank reconciliations. ● Assist Senior Accountants with various club projects and montly close tasks. ● Prepare journal entries and maintain various amortization schedules. ● Assist with monthly sales tax filings in various states. ● Assist with ad-hoc projects as assigned by the Accounting Manager. Monthly Closing: ● Timely month-end closing of the GL and booking of all journal entries in accordance with the month-end calendar. ● Prepare monthly balance sheet reconciliations for selected accounts (AR, AP, accrued expenses) and timely review of said reconciliations with the accounting manager. ● Reconcile intercompany transactions and prepare IC invoices for the monthly charges. Work with the Accounting Manager on monthly IC settlements/netting. ● Work closely with other departments to gather information needed for month-end close, including AP accruals. Innovation and Efficiency: ● Support annual audits performed by external auditors. ● Identify opportunities for process improvements to scale and automate manual procedures. ● Assist management in completing special projects and analyses on an ad-hoc basis. Continuous Improvement: ● Improve and enhance best practice processes, procedures and internal controls. Promote operational efficiency and compliance. ● Respond to inquiries from internal and external stakeholders. Required Skills/Abilities: ● Internal controls ● GL account reconciliations and workpapers ● Process and review various journal entries ● 2+ years’ experience in a staff accounting position ● Knowledge of US GAAP ● Remote work experience Preferred Experience:
Compensation & Benefits: The annual base salary for this role is $65,000-70,000, plus our benefits package. Salary offers are made based on the candidate's equivalent experience and internal equity with other employees within the same job classification.
