The Role

The Sr. Director, Content will lead the strategic vision, development, and execution of all league content across owned and paid platforms, including social, video, editorial. This role is responsible for building a distinctive, fan-first content ecosystem that drives engagement, grows audience reach, and elevates the league’s brand voice.

This leader will oversee long- and short-form content production, ensuring alignment with marketing priorities and seamless integration with commercial partnerships. This individual will work closely with leaders across marketing, comms, partnerships and digital to ensure content distribution and amplification both maximizes reach and honors brand development. The Sr. Director, Content will also establish clear performance frameworks to measure success, optimize content strategy, and expand reach among emerging and next-generation audiences.


What You Will Own & Drive

Content & Social Media Strategy

  • Define and execute a comprehensive content strategy across all platforms and channels, owned and paid (e.g., website and apps, social,, video, emerging channels, influencer/creator amplification)
  • Establish and maintain a consistent, authentic, and differentiated league voice across all output
  • Partner closely with Marketing to align content calendar with campaigns, tentpole moments, and season priorities to meet business goals and accelerate growth
  • Develop an approach to strategically distribute and commercialize content
  • Ensure content reflects the league’s values, players, clubs, and fan communities
  • Support club social and content teams.

Content Production & Distribution

  • Oversee end-to-end production of long-form, short-form, and real-time content, including match coverage, storytelling, and original programming
  • Partner closely with league broadcast/streaming media partners to drive greater content collaboration, distribution, and amplification
  • Develop content themes and franchises; custom and partner content
  • Lead editorial planning, content calendars, and platform-specific strategies
  • Drive innovation in formats, leveraging trends, new platforms, and evolving fan consumption behaviors
  • Ensure high-quality, scalable production workflows across internal teams and external partners

Partnership Integration

  • Collaborate with Partnership/Commercial teams to integrate sponsored authentically into organic content.
  • Ensure delivery of partner commitments through compelling, on-brand content executions
  • Balance commercial objectives with fan-first storytelling and editorial integrity
  • Lead strategic partnerships with social media platforms (including YouTube) to drive audience growth, content distribution, and monetization opportunities across league channels.

Audience Growth & Engagement

  • Identify and execute strategies to grow and engage diverse and emerging audiences
  • Leverage cultural moments, player narratives, and community-driven storytelling to expand reach
  • Optimize content for platform-specific algorithms and consumption patterns
  • Utilize influencer/creator channels to amplify messages and reach new audiences

Performance & Insights

  • Define KPIs and success metrics across platforms (audience segments, engagement, reach, growth, conversion, etc.)
  • Build reporting frameworks and dashboards to track content performance and return on efforts
  • Use data and insights to continuously refine strategy and inform decision-making
  • Partner with analytics team to better understand fan behavior and content impact

Leadership & Team Development

  • Lead and scale a high-performing, creative content team across social, video, and editorial
  • Foster a culture of innovation, experimentation, collaboration, and accountability
  • Manage external agencies, production partners, and freelancers as needed
  • Establish clear processes, workflows, and governance to ensure efficiency and consistency

What You Will Bring

Core Qualifications

  • 10+ years of experience in content strategy, digital media, or production; sports, media, or entertainment experience a strong plus, but not required
  • Proven track record of building and scaling high-performing, growth-driving content platforms and teams
  • Deep understanding of social media platforms, creator/influencer ecosystem, digital trends, and audience development strategies
  • Experience with SEO, GEO and AI tools that support efficiency.
  • Experience integrating brand partnerships into content in a way that balances commercialization opportunities with brand authenticity and audience growth goals
  • Strong analytical mindset with experience using data to drive decisions
  • Exceptional storytelling instincts and editorial judgment
  • Experience working in a fast-paced, high-growth environment
