Freeride Skiing Pro Team Head Coach

CLASSIFICATION: Contractor

REPORTS TO: Freeski Sport Director- Skogen Sprang

LOCATION: Based in Park City / Remote Flexible

TRAVEL: November 1 – March 31/ 100-120 days

TOTAL COMPENSATION: TBC

U.S. Ski & Snowboard is seeking a Freeride Skiing Pro Team Head Coach. This is a contract position for the first 5 months and could be rolled into a full -time position pending satisfactory performance after the 2026-27 season.

SUMMARY / OBJECTIVE

The Freeride Skiing Pro Team Coach is responsible for the technical coaching and leadership of the Freeride Pro Team. This individual is expected to be proficient and/or leading the world in technical coaching methods and is aligned with the staffing and leadership philosophies of the Freeride Sport Director. This individual will be responsible for planning and leading team training sessions and camps along with video review and facilitation of high-performance needs. The Pro Team Coach will be directly responsible for Competition schedule planning and strategies along with execution of logistics with all team athletes.

ROLES & RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Establish technical, physical, and mental goals with each athlete for training and competition, creating an Athlete Development Plan, tracking and updating throughout the season.
  • Develop and lead Freeride Pro Team travel, training, and competition schedule. Coach should travel with the athletes to assist with in-transit needs if needed.
  • Develop and manage Freeride Team selection criteria and ensure appropriate education and communication of criteria with Team Athletes as well as clubs, academies, regional programs, parents etc.
  • Manage travel expenses and develop project sheets that estimate costs per athlete and communicate, track, and balance the projects expenses with monthly reports with Team Manager and Sport Director.

  • Skiing to and from training and course venues. Access to all parts of a Freeride Course Venue. Driving long distances all around the world with athletes.

COMPETENCIES & EXPERIENCE

Position Requirements

  • This position requires extensive travel.
  • Must be detail and task oriented, goal driven, a strategic and tactical thinker and planner, and always positive and professional.
  • Minimum 5+ yrs coaching experience in high-level domestic program or elite level international program.
  • Minimum level 300 Coaches Certification preferred.
  • Knowledge of technical aspects of coaching Freeride skiing athletes.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills.
  • Ability to manage projects independently or in coordination with other coaches/programs
  • Accounting and budget management skills.
  • Computer skills to include: Microsoft Word, Excel, Powerpoint, and Video Review/Editing
  • Strong winter driving skills, and ability to operate manual transmission is recommended.
