Application Summary:

US Speedskating in Kearns, Utah is accepting applications for our 2026 Social Marketing and Communications Internship. The internship runs from the anticipated start date of November 1st through April 30, 2027. This is a unique opportunity to work with Olympians as they train for the next Olympics in 2030. This is a part-time, temporary position. This position works in the USS National Office and Training Center, located at the Utah Olympic Oval in Kearns, Utah. Some travel during the year will be necessary, as well as occasional evenings and weekends (for events)

The position supports staff and athletes for the Long Track and Short Track National Team and international teams and interacts closely with other USS staff and departments in serving the membership of USS and meeting organizational goals. About US Speedskating

From Pond to Podium, we are US Speedskating (USS). We grow and nurture a sport where all ages can experience the thrill of speed and the camaraderie of the skating community. USS is responsible for the development of speed skating from grassroots to the highest elite racing programs. USS is recognized by the United States Olympic and Paralympic Committee and the International Skating Union as the governing body for the sport of speed skating in the United States. The Organization has won 97 Olympic medals to-date, making it one of the most successful sports in U.S. Olympic history. USS is a 501(c)3 non-profit organization.

What You’ll Be Doing

Primary responsibilities:

In this role, you will provide valuable support to the Marketing and Communications team with day-to-day social media management tasks, including:

General Marketing & Communications Support

  • Support the execution of US Speedskating's overall Marketing and Communications strategy

  • Assist with brand consistency across digital platforms, print materials, and event signage

  • Help support marketing campaigns tied to competitions, fundraising initiatives, and organizational announcements

  • Provide general support to the Marketing & Communications team across day-to-day projects and priorities

  • Assist with research, reporting, and other special projects as assigned

  • Assist with website management and updates

  • Complete general administrative tasks to support the Marketing & Communications department

  • Lead in-person merchandise sales efforts

Content Creation & Video

  • Collaborate with the Marketing & Communications team to generate content ideas and identify new content opportunities

  • Identify key online and social media trends to help inform content strategy

  • Produce weekly video content featuring athletes, sponsors, and supporters

  • Create featured content for USSpeedskating.org and social/digital platforms

  • Monitor social media channels for engagement and respond to comments or messages as needed

  • Maintain and update the US Speedskating video archive

  • Maintain and update athlete bios for the annual media guide

  • May assist with video content creation and editing for new LMS Coach Education system

Who You Are:

  • Demonstrated video experience - coursework, personal projects, or professional work in filming and editing (please include a reel or samples with your application)

  • Proficiency with video editing software (e.g., Adobe Premiere Pro, Final Cut Pro, CapCut, or similar)

  • Comfortable operating a camera and/or smartphone for both planned shoots and fast-paced, unscripted live-event coverage

  • Familiarity with social media platforms and content trends (especially short-form video for Instagram Reels and TikTok)

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills; comfortable serving as a point of contact for sponsors and donors

  • Highly organized, with the ability to manage multiple ongoing projects and deadlines

  • Ability to work appropriate weekend hours around training, competitions, and events (on-site and remote)

  • Passion for sports; speed skating knowledge is a plus but not required

  • Must be able to work on-site at the Utah Olympic Oval in Kearns, Utah

  • Ability to pass a background check

  • Successfully complete SafeSport certification training

Compensation:

The hourly compensation for this position will be $18/hr, and the contract will be 20-25 hours per week.
