Emory & Henry University invites applications for a results-oriented, student-first Graduate and Nontraditional Student Recruiter/Admissions Counselor. Reporting to the Dean, Center for Online Learning and Professional Studies, this role plays a vital part in recruiting and enrolling adult learners, online transfer students, and graduate candidates across a portfolio of 100% online, hybrid, and non-degree programs. This is a fast-paced, performance-focused position that requires experience navigating high-volume pipelines, conducting persuasive outreach, and supporting students or clients through complex decisions.
Duties & Responsibilities:
Recruitment & Admissions
- Serve as the primary recruiter for adult and nontraditional students, including working professionals, online degree-completion transfers, and non-credit participants.
- Develop and execute an annual recruitment strategy for online and graduate programs (e.g., Criminal Justice, Cybersecurity, Healthcare Administration, MBA, HHP), including communications flow and event planning.
- Host virtual and in-person open houses, webinars, and info sessions year-round.
- Represent the university at graduate fairs, employer sites, transfer events, and community-based recruitment opportunities.
- Guide prospective students through the full admissions process—from inquiry to application, financial aid, and registration.
- Collaborate with the marketing team to manage recruitment communications through CRM systems (e.g., email campaigns, digital ads, print collateral).
Pipeline Development & Community Engagement
- Build and maintain relationships with feeder institutions (e.g., community colleges), workforce boards, nonprofit organizations, and employers to create and sustain enrollment pipelines.
- Collaborate with academic leadership and student services to ensure recruitment messaging aligns with program offerings and learner outcomes.
- Support partnership development and MOUs in coordination with the Dean.
Onboarding & Retention Support
- Assist with student onboarding, orientation planning, and advising transitions.
- Provide preliminary support on housing, technology needs, and academic readiness—especially for online students.
- Support early engagement and retention strategies through timely follow-up and proactive communication.
Data Management & Reporting
- Maintain accurate records of recruitment activity and student progression using CRM and student information systems (e.g., Salesforce, Slate, or similar).
- Monitor and report inquiries, lead conversion, enrollment trends, and demographic insights to support continuous improvement.
- Participate in team planning, strategy reviews, and enrollment forecasting with the Dean.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree from a regionally accredited institution.
- At least 2 years of experience in one of the following:
- Admissions, recruitment, or enrollment management for graduate, online, or adult learners,
OR - High-volume, performance-based sales (e.g., mobile phones, rental cars, insurance), with responsibilities including lead follow-up, customer conversion, and metrics tracking.

- Strong interpersonal and communication skills, including experience delivering presentations to both small and large audiences (in-person and virtual).
- Self-starter with the ability to work both independently and collaboratively in a cross-functional environment.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite.
- Valid driver’s license and willingness to travel throughout the region, including occasional overnight and weekend commitments.
Preferred Qualifications
- Familiarity with workforce and higher education needs in Southwest Virginia or the Appalachian region.
- Knowledge of enrollment management principles, financial aid basics, and student support services.
- Experience using CRM systems and online recruitment platforms (e.g., Salesforce, Slate, LinkedIn Recruiter).
- Bilingual proficiency (Spanish preferred).
