Job Description

The Sitting National Teams (PC/PT) Performance Coach/Physical Therapist is a regular full-time position providing primary support for the Men’s and Women’s Sitting National Teams. This position works closely with other Sports Medicine and Performance team members to enhance athlete wellness and performance by providing and coordinating athletic performance & Physical Therapy services. This position reports to the Program Director, Sitting National Team.

Extended hours may be required to include nights, weekends, and holidays. Some domestic and international travel is required. This position is located in Edmond, OK.

Requirements

Summary of Duties and Responsibilities include but are not necessarily limited to:

  • Model and uphold a culture of respect, psychological safety, and athlete-centered care in all interactions with athletes, coaching staff, and medical team members, recognizing that the foundation of elite performance is built on trust.
  • Design and implement comprehensive strength and conditioning programs for all resident and non-resident athletes, maintaining detailed records of individual participation, progress, and performance outcomes.
  • Oversee athlete training sessions in person for resident athletes and via video or other electronic platforms for non-resident athletes, ensuring consistent program delivery across both populations.
  • Develop individualized modifications to lifting technique and programming that account for each athlete's functional needs, optimizing training effectiveness and maintaining the highest standards of safety.
  • Conduct weekly video-based technical analysis with non-resident athletes to evaluate movement quality, refine lifting mechanics, and ensure program adherence.
  • Administer quarterly strength and bilateral balance evaluations for all athletes, as well as on-court assessments to measure the practical effectiveness of the Strength & Conditioning program, maintaining comprehensive records for each individual.
  • Collaborate with Head Coaches and the Director of Sitting Teams to develop and refine the annual strength training plan and yearly periodization framework.
  • Participate in the integrated planning process for overall athlete development, contributing Strength & Conditioning expertise to cross-functional program decisions.
  • Adhere to and apply standards and best practices set forth by the National Strength and Conditioning Association across all programming and service delivery.
  • Partner with program athletic trainers and medical providers to coordinate and deliver physical therapy, manual therapy, and rehabilitation services for all athletes, maintaining thorough clinical records for each individual.
  • Other duties and projects as assigned.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor Degree – Kinesiology, Physiology, Exercise Science, Education, or related field preferred.
  • Five (5) years strength coaching at the elite junior, collegiate, national or international level preferred. Previous work with Paralympic programs desirable.
  • Must possess a Strength & Conditioning certification.
  • Five (5) years Physical Therapy experience with an emphasis on athletes.
  • Must possess a Physical Therapy certification.
  • Proven ability to promote sport performance.
  • No record of malpractice claims, professional boundary violation, or State Board sanctions.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills and working knowledge of computer programs.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work effectively with diverse populations including athletes, coaches, administrative staff, and other medical personnel
  • Must be able to successfully pass a USAV background screening (prior to hire date).
  • Must successfully complete SafeSport certification within two weeks of hire date. Training must be maintained throughout employment.
  • Experience working with volleyball athletes is a plus.
  • Certification in soft tissue modalities (ART, NMT, Massage, etc.) is preferred.

Salary: $60,000 - $70,000 (commensurate with experience)
