CRITERIA
This award honors a tennis official who exemplifies all or many of the following:
- Has made a difference in the sport of tennis without thought of reward or advancement for themselves, with the goal of contributing to the game and/or helping others to succeed
- Has given back in any of a variety of ways and in doing so sets an example for others
- Cares about the quality of officiating and the integrity of the game
- Has earned the respect of other officials beyond on-court ability
SELECTION PROCESS
Annually, provided that the Committee identifies a viable candidate. Nominations are received through the Sectional Chairs of Officials in each Section. The Woodie Walker C.A.R.E Award committee, which is comprised of a Chairperson, a USTA Staff Member, the National Chairman of Officials, and three USTA members at large, will review the nominations and select a recipient.
