Job Summary:
The Multimedia Operations Support Manager role is responsible for managing multiple aspects of field camera operations and media asset management workflows for supporting real-time highlight creation with field content, broadcast melt footage and full game records to support highlight creation and 24/7 programming support. This individual will lead a team of camera operators, media technicians, and logistics personnel to ensure seamless capture, distribution, and storage of high-quality video content across live broadcasts, digital platforms, and archival systems. The role requires deep expertise in sports production, cutting-edge camera technologies, and media workflows, with a strong emphasis on real-time coordination, innovation, and operational excellence.
Key Responsibilities:
- Field Camera Operations:
- Oversee deployment and operation of field camera crews for NBA games, practices, and special events.
- Ensure optimal camera placement, coverage strategy, and technical quality for all content captured.
- Collaborate with directors, producers, and technical teams to align camera work with creative vision.
- Monitor player and team trends to inform scheduling decisions and identify cost-saving multi-game trip opportunities.
- Media Management:
- Manage the end-to-end media workflow--including ingest, tagging, storage, and retrieval--allowing production teams and broadcast partners near real-time access to field and broadcast melt elements for live production content creation.
- Implement and maintain distribution processes for managing the flow of highlights/finished content to all required distribution points.
- Ensure compliance with metadata standards, rights management, and league policies.
- Technology & Innovation:
- Evaluate and integrate emerging technologies such as 4K/8K cameras, remote production tools, and AI-driven media tagging.
- Partner with engineering and IT teams to ensure infrastructure supports high-volume, high-speed media workflows.
- Drive innovation in mobile production solutions.
- Logistics & Operations:
- Coordinate travel, equipment allocations, transport, and on-site logistics for field crews.
- Manage budgets, vendor relationships, and procurement/scheduling of camera and media equipment.
- Ensure all operations comply with safety, legal, and broadcast standards.
- Archival Content Repurpose and Distribution
- Oversee the edit of archival content for distribution on NBA channels.
- Oversee the screening of content for distribution to partners for use in documentaries or other features.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Film/TV Production
- 5+ years of experience in sports production.
- Deep knowledge of NBA production standards, high frame rate camera systems (Phantom, Arri, Red, etc.), and media asset management platforms.
- Proven ability to lead in high-pressure, live broadcast environments.
- Strong organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills.
- Willingness to travel and work non-traditional hours, including nights and weekends.
Preferred Skills:
- Experience with remote and cloud-based production workflows.
- Passion for basketball and a deep understanding of the NBA ecosystem.
- Experience with High Frame Rate (HFR) camera systems and their application in live sports.
- Expertise in capturing and producing behind-the-scenes content for digital and social platforms
Salary Range: $117,000 - $130,000
