The Maintenance Manager – Wave System is responsible for the planning, leadership, and oversight of all maintenance operations related to the wave system and supporting infrastructure. This position manages the maintenance team (Technicians I–III), ensures the safety and reliability of all systems, and oversees compliance with regulatory standards. The role also involves budget management, vendor coordination, inventory, documentation and driving a culture of safety, accountability, and performance excellence. Additionally, the Maintenance Manager position will be expected to coordinate maintenance needs and projects throughout the property with Sustaining Operations and Facilities.

Responsibilities include, but not limited to:

Leadership & Team Management

  • Lead, coach, and develop a team of maintenance technicians and support staff
  • Assign daily workloads, manage scheduling, and ensure timely task completion
  • Conduct performance evaluations, training plans, and hiring decisions
  • Foster a safety-first, teamwork-driven culture

Operational Oversight

  • Oversee the safe operation of the wave system, including pumps, controls, hydraulics, motors, filtration, and electrical components and maintain the system to ensure a high level of reliability and system efficiency
  • Monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of preventive maintenance (PM) programs
  • Coordinate response to breakdowns, emergencies, and unexpected repairs
  • Review and create maintenance logs, system performance reports, inventory and incident records to inform decision-making

Planning & Strategy

  • Develop and implement maintenance SOPs, long-term asset care plans, and system lifecycle strategies
  • Partner with engineering and operations to scope and execute upgrades, retrofits, and capital projects
  • Maintain detailed records of PM, inspections, certifications, and wave system data using CMMS or digital tools

Budgeting & Compliance

  • Manage departmental budgets, inventory levels, and procurement of tools, equipment, and parts
  • Oversee vendor contracts, service agreements, and warranty tracking
  • Ensure compliance with OSHA, DOSH, local codes, manufacturer guidelines, and internal safety standards
  • Lead internal audits and coordinate external inspections or third-party maintenance reviews

Cross-Functional Collaboration

  • Work closely with system operations, surf team, engineering, IT, and safety teams
  • Represent maintenance in leadership meetings, project planning, and operational reviews
  • Act as the primary liaison with OEMs, contractors, and regulatory bodies

Experience and Qualifications:

  • High School Diploma or GED required; Associate’s or Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering, Facility Management, or related field preferred
  • 7+ years of maintenance experience, including 2+ years in a supervisory or management capacity
  • Proven experience managing teams in an industrial, aquatic, amusement, or similar technical environment
  • In-depth knowledge of mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, and water filtration systems
  • Strong organizational and leadership skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities under pressure
  • Proficient with CMMS, maintenance analytics, and Microsoft Office or equivalent
  • Certified scuba diver and the ability to perform underwater inspections and maintenance
  • Available for after-hours emergencies and weekend/holiday support

Preferred Qualifications and Personal Attributes:

  • Certified Pool Operator (CPO)
  • Electrical License or Certification (Journeyman or higher)
  • PLC/Automation experience (e.g., Allen-Bradley, Siemens)
  • HVAC, Hydraulics, or Water Systems experience
  • OSHA 10/30 or equivalent safety training
  • Project management certification (PMP or similar) a plus
  • Exceptional work ethic
  • Ability to multi-task and be flexible is essential
  • Strong team player

Working Conditions / Physical requirements (if applicable):

  • Primarily shop/outdoors during the day and occasionally at night.
  • Outdoor work conditions will involve weather, noise, and hazardous materials
  • Frequently working on or near moving equipment and vibrating equipment.
  • Humidity is frequently above 90%.
  • Noise is over 85 decibels.
  • Light is intense/glare.
  • Occasional exposure to open fire/flames/sparks.
  • Frequent exposure to airborne dust, fumes, and gases.
  • Work surface is stable.
  • Constant exposure to dust
  • Required to work at heights

Compensation Data: Annual salary $90,000 - 105,000 based on experience, bonus applicable
