The Maintenance Technician I is responsible for performing routine inspections, preventive maintenance, and basic repairs on all mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic systems related to the wave generating system. This entry-level position plays a key role in ensuring the safe, smooth, and efficient operation of the system and its supporting systems. Additionally, the Maintenance Technician I position may be tasked to help with other maintenance needs that arise throughout the property. This could include but is not limited to HVAC repairs, cart/vehicle maintenance, pump and pipe maintenance and other mechanical needs.

Responsibilities include, but not limited to:

  • Perform daily startup, shutdown, and safety checks of the wave basin and related systems
  • Conduct routine maintenance and inspections on pumps, motors, filters, valves, actuators, and control systems
  • Assist with troubleshooting mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic issues under the guidance of senior technicians
  • Document maintenance activities, inspections, and repairs in CMMS or maintenance logs
  • Monitor system performance and alert supervisory staff to unusual sounds, vibrations, or malfunctions
  • Support water quality control procedures in coordination with aquatics staff (as applicable)
  • Help maintain cleanliness and organization of maintenance areas and equipment rooms
  • Follow and enforce all safety protocols and lockout/tagout procedures
  • Participate in on-call rotation and respond to emergency maintenance calls as needed
  • Assist with system upgrades, seasonal overhauls, and special projects

Experience and Qualifications:

  • High School Diploma or GED required
  • 1+ year of experience in maintenance, mechanical repair, water park operations, or similar environment preferred
  • Basic knowledge of electrical, mechanical, or hydraulic systems
  • Comfort working in wet, outdoor, or high-humidity environments
  • Ability to read technical manuals, schematics, and equipment diagrams
  • Must be able to lift 50 lbs, climb ladders, and work in confined spaces
  • Strong attention to detail and a commitment to safety
  • Willingness to work flexible hours, including weekends and holidays
  • Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation required
  • Experience in amusement park or aquatic facility maintenance
  • Familiarity with water filtration, pump systems, or wave-generation technologies
  • Exceptional work ethic
  • Ability to multi-task and be flexible is essential
  • Certified scuba diver or willingness to become certified
  • Ability to obtain CPR training
  • Strong team player

Working Conditions / Physical requirements (if applicable):

  • Primarily shop/outdoors during the day and occasionally at night.
  • Outdoor work conditions will involve weather, noise, and hazardous materials
  • Frequently working on or near heavy equipment
  • Humidity is frequently above 90%.
  • Noise is over 85 decibels.
  • Light is intense/glare.
  • Occasional exposure to open fire/flames/sparks.
  • Required to work at heights

Compensation Data: Hourly Rate $25.00 - $27.00 based on experience
