About X Games Club Park City and X Games Club Los Angeles
X Games Club (XC) Park City and Los Angeles are two professional action sports teams competing in the Winter and Summer X Games League (XGL), a professional league operated by the X Games. Allen Thorpe and Pipedream Capital operate two franchises — XC Los Angeles and XC Park City — under a shared ownership structure. Athletes Drafted to each Club are on multi-year contracts with the team and compete across a multi-stop X Games tour for the Championship.
Why This Role
This is a rare opportunity to lead a first-of-its-kind professional action sports franchise at the
intersection of the X Games brand and a newly launched professional league. The President will have significant autonomy to build the commercial foundation of a franchise, with a direct line to ownership and a seat at the table as the league grows.
Role Overview
The President serves as the unified staff leader across both clubs. The President & CCO/CRO is the senior executive responsible for the overall operation and commercial success of X Games Club LA and X Games Club Park City. This is first and foremost a revenue-generation and value-creation role: the President leads the commercial umbrella of marketing and media partnerships, strategic development activity for both franchises, and is accountable for near-term financial performance and long-term franchise value. The President manages the full staff organization and serves as the primary relationship owner with the Ownership Group, League Office, and key external stakeholders.
Responsibilities
Commercial Development (Core Function):
- Own all revenue generation for both XC franchises, including corporate sponsorships,
brand partnerships, naming rights, activations, and in-market commercial opportunities - Build and manage a pipeline of prospective sponsors and partners; negotiate and close
partnership agreements in compliance with XGL Team Sponsorship rules and League-
defined Prohibited Categories - Identify and pursue new commercial opportunities within the Team Commercial Opportunities framework established by the league, including real estate development, digital platforms, team merchandise, and content and licensing commercialization
Long-Term Club Strategy & Value Creation:
- Own the strategic roadmap for building franchise value over time — audience growth,
market penetration, asset development, and brand equity - Identify and evaluate long-term monetization opportunities beyond core sponsorship,
including venue and real estate opportunities, media rights development, licensing,
digital/content platforms, and new business lines - Stay ahead of league-wide developments, competitive landscape shifts, and macro
trends in sports media and live events that could affect the club's strategic position - Advise the Ownership Group on material decisions — capital deployment, real estate and community investments, strategic partnerships — with a long-term value lens
Financial Management:
- Own full P&L for both XC franchises; financials managed by Pipedream Capital
- Develop annual operating budgets; establish and enforce expense policies with staff
- Ensure timely fulfillment of all financial obligations to the team and athletes, including the League Service fee, Athlete travel and lodging costs for both franchises
Staff Leadership:
- Directly manage two senior reports: the GM (combined summer/winter) and the Head of
Marketing - Set clear accountabilities and create a high-performance culture aligned with the X
Games brand - Work closely with the GM on athlete, competition, and operational matters; work closely with the Head of Marketing on brand, content, and commercial execution
Owner & Board Relations:
- Serve as primary point of contact for the Ownership Group / Team Governor
- Provide regular reporting on financial performance, commercial pipeline, and
organizational health - Manage the club's governance obligations, including participation as the Club’s Alternate Governor when needed
League Engagement:
- Develop deep working knowledge of all XGL and SCC rules, obligations, and operational
structures governing team operators - Serve as the primary Team Liaison to the League Office on business operations
- Represent both franchises in league-wide business discussions; build and maintain strong working relationships with top League staff
Qualifications
- 10+ years of experience in sports team or league management and start up stage sports
business, with a strong track record in revenue generation, sponsorship sales, or
commercial partnerships - Experience operating or leading a professional sports franchise, team, or league
organization preferred - Demonstrated ability to close complex, multi-stakeholder sponsorship and partnership
deals - P&L ownership experience; financially literate with ability to manage budgets, read
financial statements, and drive operating discipline - Strong executive presence; ability to represent the club to owners, league executives,
sponsors, city officials, and the public - Experience engaging with municipal governments, public agencies, or civic institutions— particularly around sports venues, events, or public-private partnerships
- Strategic thinker with a demonstrated ability to develop and execute long-term business
plans, not just near-term revenue targets - Deep familiarity with the action sports landscape — athletes, culture, events, and media ecosystem — is a significant advantage
- Excellent communicator and relationship-builder; able to work effectively in a fast-
moving, entrepreneurial environment - Based in or willing to relocate to Park City, UT; ability to travel regularly to LA and to
league event
Salary: $190-200k + commission opportunities
