Job Summary
The Senior Director of Team Services provides strategic leadership, operational management, and direction to the Sport Development Division’s Team Services team. Composed of former coaches, this specialized team serves as the direct link to USA Swimming member clubs and coaches nationwide. Team Services is a vital connection and first-point of contact to our grassroots club swimming programs. The group provides teams and coaches resources to grow the sport, improve retention and elevate performance.
Every club in America has a dedicated advisor. Team Services staff serve as the primary personal connection between USA Swimming and its teams and coaches. Teams benefit from both the individual expertise and the collective experience of our advisors, who engage directly with teams to support coach and club development. Through this partnership, teams are better equipped to achieve their growth, retention, and performance goals. Internally, the Team Services staff act as a central hub, connecting member needs with the appropriate resources and departments across USA Swimming.
Additionally, you will also be responsible for supporting the Sport Development Division in achieving Organizational Key Results, specifically as they relate to membership growth and value proposition to members.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
- Drive the continued evolution of Team Services and their role in supporting clubs through:
- A scalable consultative approach to support clubs that address organizational development, business needs, competitive program development, and governance.
- Create clear, measurable Standard Operating Procedures to drive internal alignment and consistency
- Use data to drive critical services and support delivery to clubs as well as use that data to identify patterns that can impact our sport and proactively address those opportunities.
- Implement the American Development Model (ADM) as the backbone for services centered on club program development through education of coaches and volunteers and implementation of adult learning strategies to easily share and engage coaches with the ADM.
- Develop systems and protocol to manage high-stakes, time-sensitive issues/crisis that arise within member clubs that allow our advisors to remain calm, supportive, and solution oriented.
- Use feedback and surveys to continue to monitor success and opportunities for greater impact of the team.
- Grow the sport:
- Work directly with managing director on growth strategy and initiatives.
- Increase impact of New Club Success program
- Proactive support of clubs within their communities around growth initiatives
- Increase the value proposition for USA Swimming Clubs
- Increase club utilization of key USA Swimming programs and tools such as Block Party, USA Swimming University, ADM, Camps, Club Excellence, Safe Sport Recognition, Swim-a-Thon, and Club Recognition.
- Identify key current and future sport development resources for coaches and clubs, as well as sunset programs with low utilization and impact.
- Collaborate and forge successful partnerships in resource-poor environment.
- Work collaboratively with the United States Olympic and Paralympic Committee and other National Governing Bodies where appropriate.
Other Duties:
- Travel domestically to visit clubs, events or competitions, as needed.
- Oversight of Team Advisor department.
- Communicate membership feedback to internal stakeholders.
- Other duties, as assigned.

Education & Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree in business administration, sports management, related field, or equivalent is preferred.
- Success in leading distributed teams that excel in member service and support organization growth.
- Can represent USA Swimming to clubs, LSCs, and within USA Swimming Governance.
- Demonstrated competence in swim club operations, administration and governance including board governance, institution and small business knowledge and experience.
- Demonstrated success in scaled growth in education, sports, and/or business.
- Strong understanding of youth sports, participation trends, and specific knowledge of USA Swimming.
- Experience with or understanding of National Governing Bodies (NGB) structures, roles, objectives, membership, and club culture in relation to the Olympic movement and athlete relations.
Physical Requirements:
- Must be able to travel, both domestically and internationally, up to 40% of the year.
- Must be able to lift up to twenty (20) pounds.
- This position works in an office setting in the USA Swimming headquarters office in Colorado Springs, CO; Candidates who live within the assigned territory, with reasonable access to airline transportation, are allowed to work remotely. Occasional required travel to CO will be required, based on organizational need.
Salary & Benefits:
- Salary range for this position is $120,000 - $130,000 annually.
- Bonus Eligibility: Based on company performance, this position may be eligible for an annual bonus target of 10%.
